![]() It opens up a lot of new gameplay and item opportunities in 3rd person. Samus is too cool and acrobatic to be stuck mostly in 1st person. If you mix Other M with more of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and a better progression sense, you'd really have something I'd be excited about. But playing it from start to finish for what it is/was, it's enjoyable and a bit of a breath of fresh air. Other M was just a little too experimental for its own good in how it couldn't make up its mind about the camera, controls, and game progression. I personally feel, aside from an HD treatment, that the Prime series has sort of reached its limit. What sadly gets overlooked is it had some really strong flashes of what 3rd-person 3D could bring to the franchise, like the Speed Booster/Shine Sparking segments (especially the vertical ones) or the bosses like Vorash and Phantoon. and it therefore wasn't completely, utterly outside the ballpark. A user on Reddit named Bootleking created a list of all of the veterans of the Metroid Prime series that are still at. Its possible that we might not see it until the end of the Nintendo Switchs lifespan. ![]() ![]() It had story problems, but given what we know from Fusion, the end of Metroid II: Return of Samus, and different parts of Super Metroid, Samus is a sentimental/introspective individual. The fact that the development of Metroid Prime 4 is starting over from scratch means that we wont be seeing the game for several years. Personally, Metroid: Other M was a lot better than people say. Good news is, this makes Bloodstained all the more valuable on Switch. Metroid Database reported on those not there anymore: "This includes people like former producer Bryan Walker, game director Mark Pacini, design directors Karl Deckard, Mike Wikan, Lead Artist Todd Keller, and engineering leads Jack Matthews and Andy O’Neil." At this point, I'm wondering if this might be a Breath of the Wild situation where we see some kind of dual release, because we're talking about a 2-3 year delay I'd imagine, and who knows what console life cycles look like going forward. And it needs to be pointed out that Retro doesn't have the same people who worked on Metroid Prime stuff anymore. For starters, I really want to see a 3rd-person 3D option beyond Morph Ball and/or Space Jump stuff. I'm just hoping the reboot will be really ambitious now and not just more of the same. Meanwhile, Trilogy was supposed to be announced in December, but the announcement was held back, and now it's assumed to be because of this delay on MP4 according to the following:Ĭ/gaming/5/metroid-prime-4-nintendo-switch-delayed-release-date/Ĭ/gaming/5/metroid-prime-4-trilogy-nintendo-switch-release-date/įascinating, but what a shame. Nintendo wanted to move it in house, and Retro stepped up with a compelling pitch. Basically, there was an ad-hoc development going on with different outside teams and not all teams were pulling their weight to put it together. I can't confirm this, but a senior editor at Game Informer is confidently claiming to have inside info on the cause of the restart and the existence of a now-delayed Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch. ![]()
